It's not often that you get the chance to see an Emmy award winning actor, world class comic, bestselling author, Hollywood director, and platinum-selling recording artist perform all in one night in Las Vegas. This is just what you get when you see edgy comic Chris Rock perform his comic stand-up show live in Las Vegas. Born in the South but raised in Brooklyn, Chris Rock's observations on daily life in his working-class neighborhood would later become fodder for his stand-up routine and the television show that bears his name. In his late teenage years, Chris tried his hand at stand-up comedy, making his way through the New York comedy clubs and enjoying some success. When he was spotted on stage by Eddie Murphy in 1984, Chris's life changed forever. Eddie Murphy was so impressed by Chris's comedy routine that he cast Rock in his next movie, Beverly Hills Cop II. Chris didn't win any awards for his turn as a valet attendant, but he did manage to get his foot in Hollywood's door. This role directly led to Chris's roles on both Saturday Night Live and In Living Color. Chris Rock was soon able to establish his talent as an actor and screenwriter on the big screen in movies New Jack City and CB4. In 1996, he won a whopping three Emmy awards: two for his comedy special "Bring the Pain" and one for his writing on the show Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher.
